October 19, 2019: Wholesale and Friends of Laura Education Day

We had a wonderful day on the farm, some of our top wholesale clients and our brand new Friends of Laura members came to learn more about Hemp and CBD. Ben Pasley, Laura Freeman, and Dana Barthel shared their knowledge and expertise with all who attended. We also provided goodie bags full of Laura’s Homestead Alternatives products and merchandise as well as t-shirts.

October 15, 2019: Laura Speaks at Local Gardening Club

Laura visited with her friends who are members of a local gardening club. She told her story, educated the members of the gardening club about CBD and hemp products, and shared our plans for Wildcat Willy’s Distillery opening this fall. Everyone was sent home with samples of some our favorite products to try.

October 10, 2019: Leadership Winchester at Wildcat Willy's Distillery

Leadership Winchester visited our soon to open Wildcat Willy’s Distillery for a behind-the-scenes tour. Local Historians, Harry Enoch and Lyndon Comstock, spoke about the history of our building. Miss Laura and Wildcat Willy covered Sunday alcohol sales, farm-to-table distilling, and building our local economy. Ben discussed our sister companies and CBD production.

October 5, 2019: Hemp Harvest Festival

The Inaugural Hemp Harvest Festival was kicked off this weekend with a wonderful dinner at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum in Downtown Winchester on Friday evening. The Hemp Harvest Festival committee was able to raise over $15,000 for the museum from ticket and silent auction sales. Then, on Saturday morning, set-up began for the street festival. Our vendors included more than a dozen CBD companies, hemp service companies (testing, extension, outreach/education), local artisans, food trucks, and a few hemp food companies. We had over 1,000 people join us for live music, educational hemp panels, and our community-wide celebration of the hemp harvest in Kentucky. The Mayor of Winchester, Ed Burtner, proclaimed Winchester to be the Hemp Capitol of the United States. We are already working on our planning for next year, and can’t wait to see how the festival grows between now and then.

August 14, 2019: Future of Hemp Talk with Ben Pasley at Good Foods Co-op

Our COO, Ben Pasley led an informative discussion on the future of Hemp. Our sales crew joined along to answer questions and meet with prospective customers.

August 1, 2019: Women's Gardening Club

A group of Kentucky women visited the farm, where Laura led a discussion about organic soil carbon and how to best capture and sequester it. This was followed by a tour of our hemp fields at Mt. Folly Farm, shopping at the Crooked House, and lunch in downtown Winchester.

July 28, 2019: Environmentalist Dinner Party

A small group of local environmentalists and scientists, including members of SARE, discussed our carbon sequestration project and research on the farm. We had a lovely dinner catered by Judy Gernee and drinks hand-mixed by Wildcat Willy himself.

June 20, 2019: Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Annual Meeting

Our sales crew attended the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Annual Meeting in Lexington to educate and inform industry professionals regarding the use of CBD products.

June 18, 2019: Women's Profiteer Club

An all-ladies group of investors and business-owners visited the farm to learn more about the burgeoning CBD industry. We enjoyed a wonderful discussion of Mt. Folly Farm’s history, followed by shopping at the Crooked House and lunch in downtown Winchester.

June 15, 2019: Annual Hemp Planting Party

A wonderful event, celebrating the start of the hemp growing season. We had over 200 visitors come to Mt. Folly Farm to learn more about hemp, organics, and our process for making Laura’s Homestead Alternatives CBD.

June 8, 2019: Cynthiana Hemp Days

The Mercantile team educated a crowd celebrating the past and future of the Kentucky hemp industry. We also sampled Laura’s Homestead Alternatives and Laura’s Hemp Chocolates.

May 17, 2019: Women Empowering Business Leadership Day

Knowing women have supported Laura through her organic farming career, she is available to tell her story of healthy products for healthy farms and communities.

May 2019: Professional Women's Forum

As a Kentuckian, Laura is doing her part to make sure the state thrives. This meeting was held in the living room of the Homestead, with many questions and answers about hemp.

May 14, 2019: Bluegrass Area Development District Meeting

Laura was the keynote speaker at the lunch of this well-known group of female leaders in the Bluegrass. She told the story of being a woman entrepreneur in the cattle business in the 1980’s and how hemp helped her in her comeback from a devastating horseback riding accident.

April 17, 2019: Central Kentucky Leadership Conference

Laura is intent on mentoring the next generation of Kentuckians in entrepreneurship and environmentalism. This selective group of young leaders heard about the successes and challenges of Hemp, organic farming, and entrepreneurship.

April 4, 2019: First Christian Church Men's Lunch

Laura is local, and what better place to tell community leaders about Laura’s Homestead Alternatives CBD than at their monthly lunch get together.

March 28, 2019: Kentucky Association of Nutrition and Dietetics Conference

Dieticians and Nutritionists know and support Laura, and they were interested to learn about the benefits of Homestead Alternatives CBD hemp.

March 12, 2019: Meeting of the Policy Committee of the Organic Farmers Association in Washington D.C.

The Organic Farmers Association represents organic farmers nationally. Afterwards, Laura met with her senators and representative, and various officials of the USDA, where she discussed the future of hemp and organics.

February 28, 2019: Louisville Rotary Club

Laura was the keynote speaker at the club’s monthly lunch meeting. She talked about her journey from a beginning farmer in 1982 to the farmer behind Laura’s Homestead Alternatives CBD products and ended her story with the benefits of hemp for health and the environment.
