Laura’s life mission is to address climate change by developing a sustainable climate system. It’s a lot for one person to take on, both physically and mentally. So… how does she do it? The answer is actually quite simple. Laura relies on us here at Laura’s Mercantile to provide her with the best full spectrum CBD products available on the market. Laura’s Homestead Alternatives products are essential to keeping Laura’s mind and body healthy so she can continue her journey of promoting regenerative agriculture and carbon sequestration at Mt. Folly Farm, and building her local economy in Winchester, KY. (Read more about Laura’s story here)

Laura’s journey with CBD began after a horseback riding accident that left her with severe, chronic pain. It was at a hemp meeting that she first learned about the benefits of CBD for pain. She tried CBD isolate, but unfortunately saw no change in her pain levels. She gave up on the idea of CBD, but was later introduced to full spectrum. She decided to give CBD another shot, and… it worked! After realizing the full spectrum CBD was alleviating her pain, Laura was compelled to share her story with others so they could find the relief she had been so desperately searching for. Laura now uses Laura’s Homestead Alternatives full spectrum CBD products daily. For help with her pain and osteoarthritis, Laura uses our extra strength oil, and to help her get a good nights rest, she enjoys one of our full spectrum caramels before bed.

I tried CBD again, and it worked! My full-body pain from the horseback riding accident vanished, and my osteoarthritis was much improved. I knew Mt. Folly needed to grow this, and so we did.

What is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD Vs. Isolate CBD

The most abundant compound in hemp plants found in the flower and leaves is Cannabidiol, or CBD. CBD is one of more than 100 different cannabinoids that can be extracted from the hemp plant. CBD is used to make a variety of products, such as oils, lotions and creams, edibles, and capsules, among others.

But what exactly does full spectrum CBD mean? When a CBD product is labeled as being full spectrum, it means the product contains many cannabinoids beyond CBD, such as CBN, CBDV, THCV, CBG, CBC, THCA, CBDA. Full spectrum also contains other compounds from the hemp plant, including naturally-occurring terpenes, essential vitamins, fatty acids, protein, and more.

The alternative to full spectrum CBD is CBD isolate. In isolates, the CBD molecule is chemically isolated from all other compounds in the hemp plant, resulting in a powder substance which is then mixed with a carrier. CBD isolates have no identifiable amount of THC, the well-known chemical found in cannabis that creates that euphoric high, and they’re stripped of the other beneficial and nutritional compounds, like terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, and protein.

What are the Benefits of Full Spectrum CBD?

Full spectrum CBD has many potential benefits. Every cannabinoid and terpene found in a hemp plant has a specific biochemical effect, and studies have indicated there is a greater benefit when the full spectrum of compounds work together in what is known as the “Entourage Effect.” Each cannabinoid provides its own set of benefits, and when combined, are a powerful tool to help aid with issues such as pain, inflammation, anxiety, and sleep. Below, you will find some of the other common cannabinoids found in full spectrum CBD and what their primary uses are:

  • Cannabicromene (CBC): anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, anti-fungal, and anti-cancer properties
  • Cannabidivarin (CBDV): anti-convulsion, anti-inflammatory, and anti-nausea properties, as well as its impact on pain and mood disorders. It’s particularly effective in providing symptom relief for Crohn’s, HIV/AIDS, and MS.
  • Cannabigerol (CBG): anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-tumor properties. CBG has exhibited positive effects for cancer, glaucoma, inflammation and skin diseases.
  • Cannabinol (CBN): sedative effect, along with anti-convulsant and anti-inflammatory properties

Homestead’s CBD oil is made with CO2 extracted floral and leaf material, meaning the oil maintains purity throughout the extraction process. The end result is our oil contain more CBDs per milliliter than comparably priced CBD oils on the market, and the full spectrum quality yields better results for your well-being.
